Back in Boise

hey everyone,

we're back from the christmas holiday and back to work. oof dah. Are we ever. Been a busy week but now I've got some free time to throw up this post.

First off we have started to post some pictures on Photobucket that you can all check out.

Go to: www.photobucket.com
In the search images box type in: Omnidex
Then pick one of the albums.

We'll be putting up more pics soon. But we've got quite a few up there already. If there is anything you guys want to see let us know in the blog comments.

Anyway, like I said it's been a long week. We are slightly understaffed this week. Cody is busy with his own fledgling cabinet business he has with his buddies (yay! good riddance), and Todd is in jail for 18 days for driving on a suspended liscence. He chose the jail time instead of paying the fine. But he isn't making any money in jail so I don't really know if he comes out ahead monetarily speaking. I believe that's called opportunity cost. Oh well. That would be ok by itself. The reason it's so busy is that Randy is crap at managing jobs lately. He decided not to check his voicemail after the holidays until Friday. So of course there were jobs waiting to be done all week that he didn't know about. Which meant we all had to work through the weekend ( all meaning everyone but Randy). I wouldn't mind so much if it wasn't such an easily avoided mistake. Plus earlier in the week he had us driving from Caldwell to Boise and then back again(25 miles each way), because he didn't check to see if a job was ready for us. Another waste of gas and time easily avoided with a simple phone call.

During one frustrating day Ty and I entertained things we could do to get out of work. One of my favorites is that we would call Randy like this:

'Hey Randy. Hey, um... We're having trouble getting these cabinets up here. I don't think we can get this job done today.'
'What? Why?'
'Well, the building is on fire.'
'What? What do you mean it's on fire?'
'Well, there are flames everywhere and it's really hot. I keep putting up cabinets, but, you know, they just keep catching on fire. It's getting kind of hard to see in here. Also, I'm not sure what's wrong with Ty. He's laying on the floor and acting all twitchy. Oh, and our cords keep melting. You know now that I look at it, I'm pretty sure I'm on fire. '
*very, very brief pause*
'Well, we'll get through this. You guys just keep plugging away. It's probably nothing. Oh and I forgot to check my messages for the rest of the week. I'm gonna need you guys to put in some 24 hour days here. Give me a call if something comes up.'
*Randy goes back to bed*

It's not all bad though, I got to see Corey Barton's home. Corey is Randy's brother and one of the bigger builders in the Northwest. He got his start in California and then moved back to Boise. He is probably the biggest home builder in the Idaho. Oddly though he doesn't own a house himself, but instead lives with his girlfriend. Well until recently that is. They built an amazing million dollar plus home recently and after just a month or so decided to move out because, (get this) it's so big their kids are afraid of it. Anyway check out the website. www.coreybartonhomes.com

Also, we had a fun night on Saturday. We went to Ty's house and played Apples to Apples with him, his wife, and their friend Willy. Ty and his wife Tara are both 22, have a 2 year old girl named Shae and another baby due in February. Willy is also an interesting character. He and Ty are close friends since high school. Willy is a surfer and a skateboarder, and at times somewhat nomadic. He has also been a firefighter in Canada briefly. Right now he is a trim carpenter. Recently he decided not to renew his lease because he is home so little and didn't think it was worth the money so he is technically homeless. He sleeps at friend's houses at times but mostly he sleeps at the jobsite. It's actually a pretty good setup. When the houses are ready for a trim carpenter to do the finish work they are already carpeted, heated, painted, and have electricity and plumbing, just no furniture. So he crashes on the floor and when he gets up he goes right to work. He doesn't have much stuff either so he doesn't really need storage. All his tools are in the car. He works sometimes until early in the morning, takes a nap and then goes back to it whenever he wakes up. All he has to do is stop by a friend's place to get a quick shower and he's back to it.

Anyway, I gotta go get some sleep, plus I want to check the score on the Ohio State/Florida State game. More soon.

Go Broncos!

As you may have heard, Boise State beat Oklahoma State in the Fiesta Bowl last night!

Although I wouldn't normally consider myself much of a football fan, I was cheering the broncos on last night 'til the end. And it was a GREAT game.

So here's approximately how it went down...

The broncos came out with a vengeance and scored 14 points within the first 10 minutes of the game. Oklahoma scored none.

By the end of the first half, BSU had 28...Oklahoma had something less (I don't remember the exact score...maybe 14?).

The second half started kind of slow. Then Oklahoma got some points...then Oklahoma got some more points and tied the game. Then, with just a few minutes left in the game, Oklahoma got some more points...pulling ahead 35-28.

At this point, the announcers seemed convinced that the game was basically over. They made comments about how Boise had put up a good fight...how they had proven that they could run with the big dogs...that they had shown that they were worthy of playing with the big 12 and of being at a bowl game...

Suddenly, in the last minute of the game, Boise scored...bringing the score to 35-35 and pushing the game into overtime!

In the first play of OT, Oklahoma scored...42-35.

A few minutes later, Boise got a touchdown...and a two point conversion...winning the game 43-42!

Like I said before...I don't normally have a lot of appreciation for football...but this was an incredibly exciting game!!!

Go Broncos!!!
